Surgical sealant:
All major operations involve a risk of haemorrhage either caused by complications in connection with surgery or if the internal wounds do not heal quickly.

Vivostat has developed a surgical sealant that is based on a blood sample from the patient who is being operated. This blood sample contains fibrin, the substance that makes blood coagulate. 23 min. after the blood sample has been taken the fibrin can be extracted and used to stop bleeding.

Treatment of chronic wounds:
Chronic wounds (mostly seen in older people and people with diabetes) have presented a problem for many years and efficient treatment has still not been found. The majority of all chronic wounds are still treated with various ointments and bandaging with little or no effect.

The Vivostat treatment of chronic wounds is based on blood taken from the patient in question. Apart from fibrin the treatment is also based on a high concentration of blood plates that contain a major part of the components that stimulate the production of new cells. This combination of fibrin and blood plates ensures wound healing within 4-6 weeks. Investment carried out in 2007.
